5 transfer options for Aaron Ramsdale as Mikel Arteta makes David Raya Arsenal’s No. 1

David Raya has replaced Aaron Ramsdale in Mikel Arteta’s starting lineup, and it is uncertain if the Englishman will feature for Arsenal in the Champions League going forward.

It appears that Aaron Ramsdale’s career at Arsenal is coming to an end.

The 25-year-old England international was once again ignored for Arsenal’s 2-1 triumph over Sevilla, a competitor in the Champions League, on Tuesday. David Raya, who joined from Brentford on a season-long loan in August, is still the starting goalie for Mikel Arteta.

Because of Arteta’s confidence in Raya, 28, Ramsdale hasn’t been in a Premier League or European match since the beginning of September. Since then, Raya has only played in the Carabao Cup against Brentford because he isn’t allowed to play against his parent team.

Even though Arteta won’t acknowledge Raya as his number one, it’s difficult to see how Ramsdale will re-enter Arsenal’s starting lineup given how poorly his Spanish opponent is performing. For that reason, these are Ramsdale’s five transfer window alternatives for January.

Chelsea

Ramsdale is someone who Chelsea is willing to pay a premium for in January. The Blues have invested over £1 billion in new players since Todd Boehly’s takeover in May 2022, and Ramsdale’s youthful potential most definitely meets the bill.

Robert Sanchez, Chelsea’s current No. 1 player, would be greatly inferior to him. The majority of Blues supporters anticipate the Spaniard to be a stopgap measure for their goalkeeping options, since he was Brighton’s third-choice stopper before to making the transition.

Ramsdale might end up being Chelsea’s starting centre back in the long run. Given that Kai Havertz and Jorginho will be joining him in the Emirates this year, Arteta would be open to selling him for the right price. Ramsdale looks most likely to end up in Chelsea.

Bayern Munich

Moving to Bavaria could work out well for everyone, though, if Arsenal is unwilling to give Ramsdale to a Premier League competitor. Given that Manuel Neuer is still healing from a broken leg, Bayern Munich needs a custodian. It’s doubtful whether the 37-year-old, who lost his captaincy to Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann, will ever play as well as he once did.

Thomas Tuchel, the manager of Bayern, attempted to sign a stopper in the summer. “We are looking for a custodian, there are candidates,” he said to reporters. But no deal has been reached yet. We don’t have enough with Sven Ulreich till Manu returns.”

Ramsdale will be worried about taking on the role as Neuer’s backup. But Tuchel might feel it’s time for a new No. 1 if the World Cup winner is still not fully healthy by January. There might be a big chance for the six-time European champions.

Saudi Arabia

Sadio Mane, Jordan Henderson, and Ruben Neves are just a few of the greatest names in European football that the Saudis hope to sign in order to elevate their domestic league to the top in the globe. Ramsdale would be a tremendous coup and is thought to be one of the Premier League’s most entertaining goalkeepers.

He doesn’t seem to have many prospects of moving to the Middle East at this time, but what if there aren’t any other options? Gareth Southgate is obviously a great supporter of the division, as evidenced by his constant selection of Henderson. Joining a Saudi Pro League team would offer him minutes ahead of Euro 2024. Ramsdale would receive a respectable salary as well.

Former Club

However, Ramsdale may consider a transfer to either Sheffield United or Bournemouth if he wishes to remain in the Premier League. Despite having first-choice stoppers in Neto and Wes Foderingham, both clubs have had terrible season starts.

Between now and January, there’s a chance that Paul Heckingbottom of United and Andoni Iraola of Bournemouth may be fired, and a new manager at either team may want to bring in a new custodian. These incidents occur in football.

Ramsdale would be able to demonstrate his skills and remind Arteta and Southgate of his abilities if he were to play for a team that was in danger of relegation. All parties might benefit from a loan transfer.

For the time being, Arteta remains loyal to Raya. The fans of Arsenal are still not convinced by the new custodian, who made two terrible mistakes during last Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Chelsea. The manager of the Gunners took a major risk by benching the nearly flawless Ramsdale for Raya.

If Raya doesn’t perform well between now and January, Ramsdale may have the opportunity to reclaim his job, therefore patience may be essential. The Englishman is well-liked at the Emirates and is eager to stay a Gunners player. A tough choice lies ahead.
