Manchester United

After altering Manchester United’s plans, Joel Glazer has the last say on Erik ten Hag’s dismissal. Enough is enough, SACK him now.

Joel Glazer will have the final say over whether Erik ten Hag is fired should Manchester United lose for the third time in a row, particularly this Sunday against Liverpool.

Following United’s unexpected Champions League elimination, which occurred on Tuesday when they lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich and finished bottom of their group with four points from six games, the pressure on the Dutchman increased.

With 12 losses from 24 games this season, United’s troubles were exacerbated by Bournemouth’s crushing 3-0 hammering in the Premier League earlier in the day.

The Manchester Evening News reports that Patrick Stewart, the acting chief executive, does not have the power to fire Ten Hag, and football director John Murtough does not plan to do so either.

But according to the article, Joel Glazer will have the final word on Ten Hag’s fate until Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s 25% ownership is formally confirmed.

Before Christmas, Ratcliffe hopes to complete a £1.25 billion transaction with United and take over the football operations of the team.

Ten Hag’s previous troubles at Anfield make it more difficult, since United has lost all eight of their away games this season, including the heartbreaking 7-0 loss.

Another development is that Anthony Martial’s contract has a one-year extension that United is allegedly unlikely to activate, making him a free agent come summertime.

Glazer, who is well-known to be a supporter of Martial, had already stepped in to keep the French international in the team during Jose Mourinho’s time, despite possible fan support for this choice.

Ten Hag stood up for Martial after the team’s most recent loss against Bournemouth, calling the criticism unjust and highlighting the team’s shared accountability for the performance.
