After the summer transfer, Man Utd “made an early decision” on Sofyan Amrabat.

According to rumors from Italy, Manchester United has made a preliminary decision regarding what will happen to Sofyan Amrabat when his loan from Fiorentina expires.

During the January transfer window, a number of elite teams, including Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, and Liverpool, courted the Morocco midfield player, who shone at the 2022 World Cup.

Nevertheless, he remained at Fiorentina until the end of the campaign, guiding them to the Europa Conference League championship game in Prague, where they were defeated by West Ham.

Amrabat finally finalized his loan move to Old Trafford on deadline day in August following a drawn-out dispute, and Erik ten Hag allegedly saw him as a crucial addition to United’s midfield.

However, the 27-year-old’s first few months at the club have not been easy.

Due to an injury, he didn’t make his United debut until September 23. In his last two starts for the team, he was replaced at halftime.

Despite showing some encouraging signs in the other games he has played, Amrabat has been on United’s bench for each of their last two Premier League games. It is unknown what role he will play for the remainder of the season.

The Moroccan is now “very likely” to return to Fiorentina this summer rather than sign a long-term contract with United, according to Italian publication Fiorentina News.

Moreover, it is asserted that he is’more likely’ to sign with a different team than to return to the Italian team.

Ten Hag praised Amrabat’s versatility as a major reason for the Dutchman’s signing, saying on United’s official website: “He can play as a full-back or wing-back and he can also play in a higher position on the pitch.”

The 27-year-old did play left-back on several occasions during the team’s full-back injury crisis, and although he put up strong performances, it seemed obvious that he would be more useful in midfield.

Of course, if United is, as the report suggests, seriously considering not signing Amrabat long-term, then that opinion may change as the season progresses.
