Man United’s right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka feels Wilfried Zaha deserves a lot of the credit for helping him grow

Manchester United’s right-back According to Aaron Wan-Bissaka, facing Wilfried Zaha during practice improved him as a defender.

The 26-year-old made the admission before of United’s Champions League match against Galatasaray in Turkey tomorrow. On Sunday, United defeated Everton 3-0 with the help of a second-half substitution. Zaha left Crystal Palace to join the Turkish powerhouses during the summer transfer window on a free transfer.

After an unsuccessful stint at United between 2013 and 2015, Zaha signed a three-year contract with the Turkish team with the goal of participating in Champions League football for the first time. He scored in their 3-2 victory over United at Old Trafford last month, and he has played in all four of their group games thus far.

Zaha is expected to start the match on Wednesday in Istanbul and may be paired with Wan-Bissaka, who is hoping to be called up to the right back position. The two played together at Selhurst Park in the early stages of their careers, and Wan-Bissaka, who joined United in 2019, is adamant that facing Zaha in training helped him become a better defensive player.

Speaking to the United club website, Wan-Bissaka stated: “We’re still in contact.” I gave it some thought when I noticed the pull.

“I’m glad he went out there and is currently performing well for them. It seems like he’s having fun. All he’ll be thinking about is the competition in the Champions League and that other league.

“You know, I’ve respected him greatly even since we were exercising together at Palace. That was our conflict. That also benefited me as a player.

“With him, you never know when to expect him, so you simply need to be ready. Naturally, you just play your own game and take care of anything else when it arises.”

Though he has only made one appearance for United in the Champions League this year, Wan-Bissaka is regarded as one of the world’s top full-backs in one-on-one situations. He demonstrated that in January at Selhurst Park, when he denied Zaha what was very obviously going to be a late Palace winner against United.

Wan-Bissaka returned in time to execute a superb challenge, just as Zaha was ready to score with a clear goal.

“I would have avoided any other player,” Zaha stated to Sky Sports. “Oh my God, it’s Aaron,” I thought as I glanced back as I was sprinting past.

“Only he have the ability to perform the scoop tackle. Indeed, that tackle was excellent.
