Amad Diallo, the manager of Sunderland, responds candidly to a query about Manchester United.

Amad Diallo nearly achieved Premier League promotion while on loan at Sunderland during the previous season.

It has been acknowledged by Tony Mowbray that he is not sure if Amad Diallo will be permitted to sign with Sunderland in January.

Amad made his English football debut at the Stadium of Light, where he was instrumental in the Black Cats’ push for promotion the previous season. After overcoming an injury crisis, Sunderland mounted a surprising play-off campaign, but ultimately lost to Luton Town.

Several fans speculated that Erik ten Hag might give him an opportunity this season because of his loan from Manchester United. The Dutchman has demonstrated his willingness to believe in youngsters by showcasing Hannibal Mejbri and Kobbie Mainoo in recent times.

However, Amad’s brutal preseason knee injury ended any chance of his being a star in the first few months of the season. Given that Jadon Sancho has been cut from the team and Antony hasn’t played well, the Ivorian may have had a window of chance.

Amad has returned to the turf, but he is still a long way from making a breakthrough. It is unclear if he will play in the African Cup of Nations next month. Speaking at the news conference following the game, Sunderland manager Mowbray—who has lost his last two Championship games—admitted to not knowing about a potential second loan transfer.

He told reporters, “You are asking the wrong person to be honest.” We haven’t actually talked about January plans yet, so I’m not sure what they are.

“If he’s healthy enough, I think he’ll be heading to the Africa Cup of Nations. He wouldn’t likely be accessible for the entire month of January. Let’s find out from the club what it thinks of our performance by then.
