Arsenal’s Champions League group season ends with a draw against PSV.

Significantly altered In the Champions League, Arsenal was held back on Tuesday to end their Group B campaign with a 1-1 draw away at Dutch league leaders PSV Eindhoven. Both teams had already guaranteed spots in the round of 16.

Three minutes before halftime, Eddie Nketiah gave Arsenal the lead. However, five minutes into the second half, Yorbe Vertessen, who had earlier struck the crossbar, gave the home team an equalizer.

With nine points from their six games, the Gunners finished ahead of third-place RC Lens, who will now play in the Europa League, in first position in the group.

Reiss Nelson’s square pass set up Nketiah’s first Champions League goal. Nelson’s move down the right and pass exchange with Cédric exposed the home defense.

Vertessen, who struck the bar with a header from Jordan Teze’s cross in the 19th minute, also struck the woodwork with a curling effort that struck both posts before finding the net. After making a good run down the field, the Belgian was picked out by Ricardo Pepi as part of a quick attack by the home team.

After winning their opening 15 games of the season, PSV is unbeaten in their home league. However, in the 66th minute, substitute Guus Till missed an angled shot on a breakaway that resulted in a goal, and in the final minute, Ismael Saibari’s deflected effort struck the post.

Nine minutes to go, Arsenal had the ball in the home team’s goal, but Jakub Kiwior’s header was flagged offside. They could have won the game with the very last kick, but Kiwior missed the rebound after PSV goalkeeper Walter Benítez made an incredible save to deny Leandro Trossard.

The Premier League’s top spot was displaced by Arsenal after their Saturday defeat at Aston Villa, prompting manager Mikel Arteta to make eight changes to the squad. They defeated PSV 4-0 in London during their first group game of the season, making them the only team to have defeated PSV this year.
