As a possible comeback is being contemplated, Manchester United dispatched their “new sporting director to watch Mason Greenwood in action.”

The rumored new sporting director of Manchester United was seen observing Mason Greenwood during a Getafe game.

It was officially announced in August that Greenwood and United have reached a mutual agreement for the 22-year-old to pursue his career outside of Old Trafford.

Greenwood announced his loan move to Spanish La Liga team Getafe for the 23–24 season on transfer deadline day.

It was claimed last month that Greenwood had decided what to do with his future.

The Sun claims that Greenwood wants to stay longer with the Spanish team.

The players and spectators have all given him a reception he could only have imagined, a source informed the publication.

He genuinely thought his career was finished. He’s really joyful right now, wanting to keep playing and not look too far ahead.

Greenwood was supposed to rejoin United, according to earlier reports from The Sun, but the Old Trafford team changed its mind after receiving criticism from supporters.

But now it’s been stated that Paul Mitchell, one of United’s possible new prospects for sporting director, was present to observe Greenwood in action during Getafe’s 1-0 victory over Cadiz on Monday.

Mitchell was apparently impressed by what he observed of Greenwood while watching the La Liga match from the Coliseum, according to Spanish news source Mundo Deportivo.

Due to the rumored impending investment from British entrepreneur and INEOS CEO Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Mitchell has been linked to a move to United since departing French Ligue 1 team AS Monaco last month.

If Ratcliffe takes over the football operations at the Old Trafford club, Mitchell is one of the names that he has indicated he would like to hire.

Because Mitchell was seen observing Greenwood in action for Getafe, there will likely be more rumors about the Englishman’s possible return to Old Trafford.
