Manchester United

As England faces competition for a Manchester United midfield player, Gareth Southgate is scheduled to speak with Kobbie Mainoo.

According to rumors, Gareth Southgate will speak with Kobbie Mainoo in an attempt to convince the highly regarded midfield player from Manchester United to represent England.

The Greater Manchester native, who is eighteen years old, has played for the Three Lions at several age groups.

He recently led England’s U19 team to win in the yearly Marbella Cup, when he helped Simon Rusk’s team defeat Mexico 7-1 with two assists.

A few days later, Mainoo had another brilliant performance for Manchester United against Everton in the Premier League; Roy Keane called it “outstanding” after the near-perfect showing.

With his first-team debut earlier this year, the United youth product has undoubtedly left his mark.

Indeed, following Sunday’s match at Goodison Park, it seems that Gareth Southgate is ‘desperate’ to see Mainoo commit his future to England, given that he is still eligible to represent Ghana via his parents.

The Daily Star claims that Mainoo may be expedited into the England U21 squad to expedite the process, but this does not ensure his future.

According to FIFA regulations, footballers are free to change allegiances as long as they have only appeared in three senior matches and those games occurred while they were less than 21.

Apart from the aforementioned requirements, a player’s last game for the nation they want to leave must have been three years ago.

None of the three matches may occur in the World Cup finals or their confederation-level equivalent.

When facing Everton, Kobbie Mainoo was exceptional.

As previously noted, following Sunday’s full-time whistle, Mainoo received a ton of praise from former Manchester United captain Roy Keane.

“It’s unbelievable, let’s not get ahead of ourselves, but we definitely will,” he remarked. He gave off the impression of constantly being able to make snap decisions about how long to go and how short to go. Moreover, off the ball, what a complete game.

“I am aware of the club’s high regard for him. In order for the manager to start him in today’s match against Everton, he must undoubtedly have faith in him.

“Listen, I wish the child luck. He was excellent. He’s off to a terrific start. He appeared like a Man United player today, so let’s hope he avoids injuries and plays a lot for the team. Very courageous and kind, it was a pleasure to watch him.
