Manchester United
At Manchester United, Rasmus Hojlund has already accomplished what Greenwood was unable to.
As Man Utd loses in Copenhagen, refereeing decisions with ten Hag questions.
On Wednesday, Manchester United lost to FC Copenhagen 4-3 at Parken in the Champions League, capping off another terrible night for the team. And with just three points from four Group A games, United appears destined to end their new striker’s amazing European adventure early.
In the first thirty minutes, Hojlund scored twice, seemingly putting United on a smooth path to a comfortable three points in the capital of Denmark.
However, a dramatic result that puts the Red Devils in danger of missing out on Group A was caused by Marcus Rashford’s red card in the 42nd minute of play.
It would be a great tragedy if United were to leave Europe altogether or fall into the Europa League, thereby wasting Hojlund’s outstanding performances.
Only a few months into his Old Trafford career, the 20-year-old striker is already shattering records, becoming United’s fastest player to reach five goals in the Champions League.
Additionally, he scored in United’s 4-3 loss to Bayern Munich in the first gameweek and again in their 3-2 loss to Galatasaray in the second gameweek.
In 16 of these games, Cantona scored five goals, while Dimitar Berbatov scored 25. Just six have Anthony Martial’s 32 Champions League appearances total.
Jadon Sancho, one of Hojlund’s other teammates, has just once scored in seven Champions League games. And he’s establishing himself as Mason Greenwood’s deserving replacement in the No. 11 jersey.
At the same age as Hojlund, Greenwood, who is on loan at Getafe this season, only managed two goals in 10 league outings.
Bruno Fernandes, a teammate, has scored five goals in four Champions League outings, matching Hojlund’s total. Fernandes’s goal against Copenhagen was his fifth in 17 Champions League contests.
If Hojlund keeps improving his game, United will have him making many more contributions for years to come. He appears destined to play on the grandest stage.
After failing to score in his first eight Premier League appearances, the Danish international will be determined to break his scoring drought.
Saturday is Luton Town’s visit to Old Trafford before to the November international break. After putting on another striking performance in Europe, Hojlund will be assured of leaving an impression.
The next matchup for United in the Champions League is against Galatasaray, and in the M16 round, they host Group A winners Bayern Munich. Each is essential.
