Barcelona say sorry to Madrid Player after director called Real Madrid forward a clown
The Brazilian was given the criticism on Tuesday during his team’s match against Braga, only a few days after he was subjected to further racist taunts against Sevilla.
After one of their directors referred to Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior as a “clown” in a social media post, Barcelona has issued an apology.
Miquel Camps, a board member of Barça, slammed the 23-year-old on X, formerly Twitter, in response to some showboating by the Brazilian during Real Madrid’s Champions League match at Braga on Tuesday.
“It’s not a racism,” he wrote. “He should be slapped for being such a buffoon. What purpose do these needless and meaningless midfield stepovers serve?”
Although Xavi angrily deleted the tweet, numerous screenshots were captured and circulated, and Xavi was questioned about it during a news conference on Wednesday.
“If he deleted it, there is no need for me to say anything,” he replied.
“Tense situations are the worst kind of situations, whether it’s this tweet or attempts to manipulate the officials. We require a Clasico characterised by fair play and mutual respect.
Additionally, Barça vice president Rafa Yuste deemed the tweet offensive following the team’s 2-1 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday.
“If Vinicius is listening to me, I want to say that this will not be repeated,” he stated to Movistar.
“It should not have been posted, even in the event that it was an error. The [post] was not appropriate.
The divisive statement demanded for a crackdown on racism shortly after Vinicius was the recipient of new racist taunts during Real Madrid’s 1-1 draw with Sevilla.
