Manchester United have confirmed that Lisandro Martinez will become their third signing of the summer transfer window after reaching an agreement with Ajax for his transfer.The 24-year-old has agreed terms for a five-year contract at Old Trafford.
The 24-year-old centre-back will move for 54 million euros fixed plus 10m euros in variables. In total, it’ll be around 64m euros for this Argentine, who’ll sign with the Red Devils until 2027.
A statement from United said: “Manchester United is delighted to announce the club has reached agreement with Ajax for the transfer of Argentine international defender Lisandro Martinez, subject to medical, to player terms being finalised, and to UK visa requirements.”
Martinez’s willingness and capability to play in midfield could be especially handy this coming season. For starters, if both players are fit and play to a good standard, captain Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane are likely to still be the first-choice centre-back partnership despite Martinez’s arrival.
Most Manchester United fans will be aiming the Argentine international do better than other defenders, so as to be in Manchester United’s starting eleven.
