BREAKING – Man Utd takeover scrapped by ‘Glazer U-turn’ in Sheikh Jassim vs Jim Ratcliffe anti-climax
“Glazer U-turn” in Sheikh Jassim vs. Jim Ratcliffe anti-climax scraps Man Utd takeover.
Numerous individuals involved in the Manchester United takeover drama are upset with the Glazers.
According to sources, Manchester United was on the verge of a complete takeover until the Glazer family ended Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani’s growing aspirations. Many are disappointed as it appears like Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s minority investment in United will bring the club’s 11-month takeover odyssey to an end.
But Sheikh Jassim, who emerged early this year as the sole contender seeking to purchase a 100% stake in the club, is probably the most irritated of all.
The Glazers sought at least £6 billion before considering cashing in, but the Qatari king raised his offer to £5.2 billion, which was treble the club’s market value.
Sheikh Jassim withdrew from the process earlier this month due to persistent resistance, which made it possible for Sir Jim to purchase 25% of United in a £1.4 billion deal.
In the first phase of a possible phased takeover, it will give INEOS complete sporting control while retaining the Glazer family’s dominant control at Old Trafford.
According to football finance specialist Kieran Maguire, Sheikh Jassim repeatedly consented to increase his offer to the Glazers.
