Chelsea have agreed to sell Timo Werner to RB Leipzig for a fee of £25.3 million, it has been reported.
The 26-year-old will end the period at Chelsea, where he failed to live up to the quality that he showed during his time in the Bundesliga.
Scoring just 23 goals in 89 Chelsea appearances, Werner is set to return to the side where he previously netted 90 in 156 appearances at Leipzig.
It was revealed earlier this week that Werner’s relationship with Thomas Tuchel has broken down after a meeting between the pair.
It is claimed Werner and Tuchel have fallen out over his playing time and the role he plays in the manager’s system. And the forward himself made it clear he was at least thinking of leaving when spoke in pre-season.
Nevertheless, the 26-year-old has been unable to impose himself on a consistent basis and allegedly told the Blues board that he wanted to leave earlier in the window.
