Chelsea’s Struggle: Convincing Brilliant 19-Year-Old Talent for Ligue 1 Move
Chelsea continue to struggle to convince brilliant 19 year old talent to make Ligue 1 move.
Everything has gone very smoothly with the move of Angelo Gabriel to Chelsea. We linked with him, we signed him, and within days he was playing for us in our first preseason friendly.
Once the US tour is done and he’s had a couple of appearances and the chance to show Mauricio Pochettino what he’s about, he will head off on loan to Strasbourg for the season. Everyone’s happy.
Things aren’t going so smoothly with the other talented Brazilian teenager we targeted at the same time, Matheus Franca.
The 19 year old is keen to move directly to the Premier League, and doesn’t want to be parked at our sister club for a year or two. According to the Athletic, this is why the deal “hasn’t advanced yet.”
Of course money talks, and it’s perfectly possible we’re ultimately able to convince Franca that his future is well served joining the BluCo family.
But equally, given Crystal Palace are apparently desperate to bring him in, one would understand perfectly if he took the shorter route to more minutes, and the direct route to Premier League action.
