Despite criticism, Man Utd manager Ten Hag says Rashford is “totally in the team” and says, “We are not happy.”

Marcus Rashford has struggled this season, but Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, maintains that he is “totally in the team.”

Wednesday night’s match against Copenhagen had the Red Devils ahead 2-0 early on, but Rashford’s red card shortly before halftime turned the tide of play.

Bruno Fernandes gave Manchester United the lead back with a penalty kick after Mohamed Elyounoussi and Diogo Goncalves had tied the score for the Danish hosts.

However, additional goals from Lukas Lerager and Roony Bardghji, a replacement, saw Copenhagen win 4-3, condemning Manchester United to their third loss in four Champions League games this season.

Rashford was sent off to continue his miserable season after failing to contribute and giving up both of Manchester United’s early goals to Rasmus Hojlund.

In all competitions last season, Rashford scored thirty goals, but in 15 games across all competitions thus far this season, the England international has managed just one goal and three assists.

During his pre-game press conference, Man Utd manager Ten Hag responded to a question regarding Rashford’s performance by saying, “He is not happy.” We’re not content. Although he isn’t at his best right now, he has great aspirations for himself, and I have faith that he will improve.

He’s not at his best right now, but I have faith that he will improve. I’m sure he’ll play better and score goals when the team is performing well, so yes, he will get better and score this season as well.

He is fully aware of everything and a part of the team. It won’t take long for him to get back on track. There are times when you only need one game, and I have no doubt he will arrive.

Summertime acquisition Although Mason Mount hasn’t had much of an effect at Old Trafford this season, Ten Hag believes the former Chelsea player is still settling in at Manchester United.

Ten Hag went on, “He had a few starts.” More recently, against Newcastle last week, but there are always explanations, and occasionally, such as when an injury occurs early in the season and other players perform well, you have to wait your turn to play.

“[Mount’s expectations] haven’t altered at all, but he started the season and got hurt, which is the worst time for a new player to get hurt because it halts their integration process and was a setback for all of us. We now need to reclaim his space.

Following a recent remark from Man Utd veteran Rio Ferdinand about the team’s mentality, Ten Hag said, “I think we often proved we can, like at Fulham, Brentford, this team can overcome big setbacks.”

Ten Hag stated, “We are very disappointed because it’s about the end result and we have to win every game,” following his team’s nine losses so far this season. In the end, everything revolves around a process; my attention is directed toward considering and then overseeing that process.
