Diogo Dalot, a defender for Manchester United, is left off the Portugal roster.
Man United defender Diogo Dalot will not play for Portugal for the next two weeks due to the international break.
Diogo Dalot of Manchester United has pulled out of Portugal’s team for the international break for personal reasons. Dalot was scheduled to play for Portugal in their next two Euro 2024 qualification matches, however after speaking with manager Roberto Martinez, the player was dismissed for undisclosed personal reasons.
Martinez granted Dalot permission to leave the team, as Portugal has already qualified for the competition.
On Saturday afternoon, Dalot started at right-back in United’s 1-0 victory over Luton Town at Old Trafford, replacing Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who was unable to play due to sickness.
At the end of the previous season, Wan-Bissaka was thought to be the starting right-back, even though Dalot had held that position at the start of the season and before to the World Cup in Qatar.
Dalot just inked a new deal with United that runs until the summer of 2028, and he has made starts in League 10 this season.
Joao Mario of Porto was selected to take his position in the squad and will soon be playing for his senior country.
As a member of the Portugal team, Bruno Fernandes is anticipated to start against Iceland on Sunday and Liechtenstein on Thursday.
