England’s Marcus Rashford is expected to start against Malta despite his Manchester United form.

Marcus Rashford of Manchester United will start for England tonight at Wembley against Malta, according to senior reporter Rob Dorsett of Sky Sports.

With their victory over Italy at Wembley last month, the Three Lions have already guaranteed their spot in the competition for next summer, placing them atop Group C of the qualifications for the 2024 European Championships.

Only the top five nations who performed the best throughout the qualifying round will be the top seeds for the December draw in Hamburg.

Although four points from the two matches should be plenty, England would guarantee their spot in the top four if they won all six against North Macedonia and Malta.

The Three Lions’ match today is vital, and despite the star player’s dismal form, manager Gareth Southgate is sticking with him.

In his previous 16 Red Devils appearances, he has only scored one goal. He has, however, netted two goals for England in the Euro qualifying matches.

When it comes to choosing his squad and starting lineup for the country, Southgate is unaffected by club form, as seen by the fact that Harry Maguire, who was frequently on the bench at Man United both this season and last, is a regular starter.

Jordan Henderson, an Al-Ettifaq midfielder, and Kalvin Phillips, an out-of-favor Manchester City player, are also regulars with England, and as long as the Three Lions manager is satisfied with Rashford, he will continue to start.

In light of their difficulties this season, the Red Devils will be hoping that the 26-year-old can use his time with the national team to regain his form. They need him to start playing at his best once more.

On November 26, they return to Premier League action when they host Everton. Three days later, they travel to Turkey to play Galatasaray in a Champions League group match that might decide the season.
