Erik ten Hag has been given permission to spend in January by Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
According to reports, Manchester United will be active in the January transfer window, and Sir Jim Ratcliffe is willing to provide financial support to bolster the team.
In a deal estimated to be worth £1.3 billion, Ratcliffe is getting ready to buy 25% of the 20-time English champions. The founder and owner of the INEOS Group is anticipated to take over the team’s football activities.
Before the team’s next game on November 26 against Everton, the 71-year-old’s arrival is expected to be announced. The Sun reports that head coach Erik ten Hag has been informed that money would be made available during the winter market to bolster the roster.
The team is now lacking in both a full-back and a forward due to injuries and other unanticipated issues, but the report suggests that those positions will be addressed.
The team’s left-back problems could be resolved if Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia return by January. However, Aaron Wan-Bissaka is still not always available, while Sergio Reguilon is only on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.
The team is keen to relieve Rasmus Hojlund, who had a strained muscle against Luton Town on Saturday afternoon, of some of his workload, and believes that a forward is their top priority in January.
This season, Hojlund has scored five goals in the Champions League, but he has not yet found the back of the net in the Premier League. Anthony Martial, his backup, has only scored one goal overall.
Jadon Sancho hasn’t played for the Red Devils since the end of August because of a falling out with Ten Hag, and it’s likely that he will leave in January. In the meanwhile, the team is lacking an attacker.
Aside from that, there have been rumors that Martial’s winter market offers would be considered. The Frenchman’s Old Trafford deal is set to expire at the end of June.
Mehdi Taremi of Porto has been linked to a transfer to Old Trafford, although it’s thought that the team is searching for a forward who can also play as a winger.
That would be fulfilled by Federico Chiesa, the Italy international who is reportedly being linked to leaving Juventus and has admirers at Man United.
Ten Hag is reportedly “convinced” that the Red Devils, despite their early-season troubles, can still finish in the top four of the Premier League table this year.
Man United is currently in sixth place in the division, just five points behind fourth-place Tottenham Hotspur, having won four of their past five Premier League games.
Despite losing three of their four games in Group A, the Red Devils can still go to the Champions League knockout stage. Newcastle United recently eliminated them from the EFL Cup.
