Gary Neville worries After Everton’s performance, Pep Guardiola will want to sign a Manchester United star.

Gary Neville worries that Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola’s attention may be piqued by Kobbie Mainoo’s outstanding debut against Everton.

Erik ten Hag’s team won their first game of the season by a margin of more than one goal as Manchester United maintained their strong league form with a 3-0 victory away from home.

Alejandro Garnacho scored one of the best goals the Premier League has ever seen for United, helping to calm the irate crowd at Goodison Park.

The Argentine’s spectacular bicycle kick opened the scoring for United, who were far from their best in the first half. However, they were able to stave off Everton pressure and win thanks to goals from Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial in the second half.

Despite Garnacho’s valiant efforts, Mainoo—a teenager making his Premier League debut—was the player of the match that stole the show.

With his superb short- and long-range passing, the 18-year-old controlled the play from midfield and was the epitome of the game.

Mainoo’s poised performance was one of its most remarkable features; the young player hardly ever made a bad choice with the ball and appeared to have decades of experience playing in front of an extremely hostile crowd.

The midfielder received immediate appreciation from Gary Neville for his handling of the situation.

“He’s gone in here at Goodison Park, in what could have been the most ferocious atmospheres for many a year in a hostile environment, and he looked class,” Neville told Sky Sports.

“We know he’s class, but he looked class in that environment.”

Against Everton, Kobbie Mainoo made an impression for Manchester United.

Although the majority of Manchester United supporters would be ecstatic by Mainoo’s full debut, Gary Neville is worried that the young English player might have performed too well.

“The greatest honor I can give him, and although I hate to say it, I hope people will interpret this in a positive light… “He appeared to be a Manchester City player,” Neville continued.

“Honestly, I was watching him and thinking, ‘that’s a player that Pep Guardiola will be looking at and thinking, I want him in my midfield, that’s what my midfield players do.”
