How Rasmus Hojlund’s father, a player for Manchester United, responded to the Champions League matchup between brothers

On Wednesday night, Man United takes on FC Copenhagen in the Champions League, where Rasmus Hojund might play with his brother Oscar.

Rasmus Hojlund, a forward for Manchester United, has opened out about his father’s reaction to the Champions League draw that saw the Dane play FC Copenhagen, his brother’s team.

The Reds need to defeat the Danish champions on Wednesday night in Copenhagen’s Parken Stadium in order to have any chance of making it out of Group A. Hojlund, who spent £72 million to join United from Atalanta this summer, may face his younger brother Oscar. Emil, on the other hand, has not been included in the team for the match and will play in the under-19s UEFA Youth League match that day.

It completes an exciting two years for Rasmus, who spent £1.7 million to leave FC Copenhagen for Sturm Graz in January 2022 and £17 million the following summer to join Atalanta. The brothers’ father, Anders, has discussed his thoughts on the draw that placed his sons against one another ahead of the match.

Hojlund Sr. has said that at first, he was concerned that the tie might cause division in his family’s allegiance.

Speaking with the FC Copenhagen podcast Kvart i Bold [through the Danish daily B.T.], Anders stated: “It was like, ‘Oh no!.'” First of all, it’s quite thrilled that United is coming to town. ‘Ras’, however, has recently joined United and, aside from that, he was formerly with FC Copenhagen. We all support the FC. In addition, our family comprises four United supporters.”

According to the source, after the draw, United forward Rasmus “instantly called the brothers Oscar and Emil.” It was fortunate for the Reds to win the rematch at Old Trafford despite Andre Onana saving a late penalty kick for Copenhagen.

Harry Maguire’s header helped United win 1-0. As a result, they are now in third place in the group, one point behind second-place Galatasaray and six behind group leaders Bayern Munich. On Wednesday night (kick-off at 8pm), the two teams will play at the Allianz Arena in the Bundesliga.
