Kobbie Mainoo’s fitness improves for Manchester United as the midfielder looks to play against Everton again.

After making two appearances for England’s Under-19 squad, Man United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is still working his way back to full fitness.

Kobbie Mainoo, a young player, has improved his prospects of making his Manchester United debut shortly after playing twice for England’s Under-19s this week.

The midfielder, who started United’s 3-0 Carabao Cup quarterfinal victory over Charlton Athletic in January when he made his senior debut, has played for the Three Lions youth team during their tour to Marbella, Spain. He started the victory against Japan on Saturday after coming in as a substitute in the 6-0 victory over Romania on Wednesday.

Wearing the No. 10 shirt, Mainoo began the game in the center of midfield and played for 76 minutes before Jamie Donley, a young player for Tottenham Hotspur, took his position. The latter made a crucial contribution, netting the game-winning goal in the last minute of regulation time to give Simon Rusk’s squad a 3-2 victory.

During the international break, Mainoo, who took over for Donley after 60 minutes against Romania three days prior, had already accumulated over ninety minutes of playing time. On Tuesday night, England’s Under-19 team will play their final match of their Marbella stay against Mexico.

Naturally, Mainoo has been increasing his level of fitness in recent weeks in an effort to get back into Erik ten Hag’s first squad plans. Since his ankle injury in July, he has not played for United’s first team.

Ten Hag has not used him despite the fact that he has been on the bench for the Reds’ last three Premier League games. Despite this, he has recently made appearances for United at the young level. Earlier this month, he participated in the whole UEFA young League match that saw the Under-19s and FC Copenhagen draw 2-2.

His chances of playing when United visits Goodison Park to play Everton next Sunday should only increase as he has already accrued more minutes during this international break. Due to knee injuries, Christian Eriksen and Casemiro will both be out for the Reds’ brief journey to Merseyside. As a result, the midfield ranks will be thin.

Mainoo, who is recognized as the most exciting player in United’s roster, is expected to play against Mexico in the middle of the week before going back to Carrington to rejoin his teammates in time for the match against Everton. Only one of his three senior appearances for the Reds had come in the Premier League thus far.
