Man United is prepared to pay £85 million to sign 22-year-old Xavi, who was just dubbed “world-class”—source

According to reports, Manchester United is reportedly actively seeking Takefusa Kubo, the attacker for Real Sociedad, and is contemplating a possible agreement that would entail providing Antony to help with the transfer, according to information obtained by the Sun.

After signing an £85 million contract with the Red Devils from Ajax this summer, Antony has not been able to contribute much. In 18 appearances this season in all competitions, he has neither scored nor assisted.

Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, is looking into replacement alternatives in light of this, and Kubo has emerged as a top contender.

Kubo was reportedly watched by Manchester United scouts at least seven times this season, most notably during the 22-year-old Japan international’s Player of the Match performance against Real Betis in a goalless draw.

Kubo, a 2019 product of La Masia, first transferred to Real Madrid before joining Real Sociedad last summer after stints on loan at Mallorca, Villarreal, and Getafe.

He has demonstrated his ability this season by creating 31 opportunities, tallying six goals, and dishing out three assists in 16 league contests.

Xavi, the manager of Barcelona, praised Kubo and called him a “world-class” player following the two teams’ most recent match.

Real Sociedad has a contract with Kubo that expires in 2027, although the team may accept a transfer fee of about £43 million.

Manchester United is considering making an offer that, in exchange for securing Kubo, might involve loaning Antony.

But, there is expected to be intense rivalry for Kubo’s signing, with Manchester United and other suitors needing to guarantee a Champions League position for the upcoming season in order to increase their attractiveness.

Napoli reportedly placed a £26 million summer bid for Kubo’s services, demonstrating the player’s status as one of Europe’s most sought-after talents.
