Man Utd supporters worry that the match against Galatasaray may be postponed due to “farcical” incidents in the U19 match.

After witnessing the match between the two teams in the UEFA Youth League, Manchester United supporters are afraid that their matchup in the Champions League versus Galatasaray may be postponed.

In today’s early kickoff in the Youth League, which replicates the matches played during each Champions League group stage gameweek, Galatasaray faced United.

The game ended in a 1-0 loss for Travis Binnion’s young United team in Istanbul, with forward Baran Demiroglu scoring the game’s only goal.

Furthermore, United is currently at the bottom of their Youth League group, just like in the senior competition.

But the Recep Tayyip Erdogan Stadium’s conditions, where the two sides played on a surface that can be considered wet, had a significant impact on the Red Devils.

And although Rams Park, which will probably have much better drainage in place, will host United’s Champions League match against the Turkish giants tonight, supporters are worried about the conditions in Istanbul and whether they could damage the match being played tonight.

A fan commented, “The pitch will likely be a little soggy unless they have cutting-edge facilities. The U19 match was absurd.”

“Unfair game with unfair ground,” another person wrote. Better to have just put it off.”

“The match will not be played because of the extremely rainy weather in Istanbul today,” a third person even declared.

Chris Wheeler of the Daily Mail reports that there isn’t yet an indication that the game could be postponed, however things could change if the weather gets worse.

He wrote on Twitter: “Biblical showers in Istanbul overnight have continued today but no suggestion that tonight’s game is in any doubt.”

The Met Office reports that strong showers will persist in Istanbul through the evening; however, it is unclear if this will affect the Champions League match that is taking place in the city.

As the afternoon progressed, ESPN correspondent Rob Dawson verified that although the rain persisted, UEFA officials were examining the field.

“State of the pitch at Rams Park right now,” he posted. It certainly doesn’t look good.

“Istanbul has had intense rain all day, and it doesn’t appear to be stopping. Many officials are out inspecting things.
