Manchester United intends to sign the French defender Chelsea wants in January.

With Sir Jim Ratcliffe perhaps lending a hand, Manchester United’s pursuit of defender Jean-Clair Todibo received a significant boost.

Despite reports that Chelsea is also vying for Nice defender Jean Claire Todibo, Manchester United is reportedly interested in signing him, according to the Metro.

Raphael Varane has lost favor because Harry Maguire has returned to the starting lineup and Jonny Evans is his preferred center-half partner. The seasoned Northern Ireland player is also sidelined after hobbling off during FC Copenhagen’s defeat last week.

Todibo was one of the players United sought to sign, and they also wanted to bolster their defense this summer by adding another center defender. With just one game behind Paris Saint-Germain in the league, Todibo—who has only one cap for his country—remains a mainstay at the back of Nice’s defense under Ratcliffe.

Jean-Clair Todibo is being considered by Manchester United as a Raphael Varane substitute.

In addition to strengthening their defense, Manchester United’s possible acquisition of Todibo would demonstrate their progressive recruiting culture. The 23-year-old is a young defender whose style of play might provide our defense consistency and toughness, giving him a long-term solution to our issues.

Todibo has previously visited a sizable club, but the experience was not favorable. His time in Barcelona was awful, and his skill was quickly overlooked. Ernesto Valverde deserves little credit for his greater faith in Ronald Araujo.

The 23-year-old employs high-pressing tactics and prefers to attack rather than wait for his opponents to move. Todibo has outstanding passing distribution from the backline when it comes to setting up assaults for his side. The Frenchman dispersed items carefully at first, but as he became more experienced, he began to take greater chances.

Jean Claire-Todibo, a center back for Nice, is a target for Manchester United.

It doesn’t seem like the greatest defensive guys to have in the lineup are Jonny Evans, Maguire, and Lindelof. Todibo might make an appearance and battle Varane for the first spot. We will have to wait to see if this agreement can be completed.

The defense for the Red Devils has suffered with injuries and has performed patchily. Todibo’s depth of experience has allowed him to hold a permanent spot in the senior United team despite his young. Ratcliffe might act as a mediator to help Nice and the Red Devils reach a compromise.
