Mason Greenwood “makes up mind” on rejoining Manchester United as unexpected favorites to land a long-term contract surface.

After his loan with Getafe expires, Mason Greenwood appears to have ruled out returning to Manchester United. A new favorite has emerged in the contest to sign the 22-year-old on a permanent basis.

It was determined that the forward could not continue at Old Trafford, thus he was loaned to the Madrid-based team for the 2023–2024 season. Manchester United decided it was prudent to allow Greenwood to go on a temporary basis in order to aid with his career reconstruction, even though the Crown Prosecution Service absolved him of the serious allegations for which he was scheduled to stand trial.

Therefore, it was rather unexpected when the forward from Bradford finally chose to sign with Getafe, known as madrids poor cousins.

But despite their initial excitement over his signing, the LaLiga team has fully accepted and welcomed Greenwood and his young family to the team.

It appears that the 22-year-old has adapted to his new environment pretty rapidly, however not without a little assistance from United, who is covering a portion of his salary, his rent, and the expense of hiring a 24-hour interpreter.

Greenwood has made 11 LaLiga games since joining the team, scoring two goals and dishing out three assists.

There have been rumors that Greenwood may already be regarded as the greatest of all time at Getafe, given that his new team is sitting comfortably in 10th place.

But earlier this week, rumors surfaced that Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the new Man Utd investor, was in talks to bring Greenwood back to the team for the upcoming season.

Mason Greenwood is prepared to deny Man Utd’s comeback—report

Even though it would be debatable, it was reported that the British billionaire was now debating whether to give Greenwood a United lifeline or whether the team would be better off making a profit.

“Incoming co-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, is already discussing Greenwood’s situation internally, and from what I’m told, he’s made no decision at all and nothing will be decided in December,” Fabrizio Romano revealed to Caught Offside, shedding light on the talks surrounding Greenwood.

Thus, the plan is to give Greenwood some space and time to play football. After then, Man Utd and the player will talk about their respective positions in light of the player’s performances for Getafe. This is probably going to happen in April, May, or March.

“There will be a lot of variables to take into account, and the new Man Utd board will undoubtedly have a new CEO and new transfer market executives, so they will all make decisions about transfers jointly.”

But according to reports from Spain, Greenwood has already decided he does not want to play for United again in the Premier League, or any other team for that matter.

The footballer reportedly intends to make Spain his permanent residence after acclimating to life there swiftly, especially in light of rumors that his friends and family are already frequent visits.

Getafe’s prospects of acquiring Greenwood permanently, though, appear slim.

The current record signing for them is the €11.8 million that Barcelona paid for Marc Cucurella during the summer of 2020.

Furthermore, it appears that one of La Liga’s poorest teams won’t be able to pay the estimated €25–€30 million (£21.4–£25.7 million) that United will ask for his services.

A new favorite to sign a Man Utd player appears.

Because of this, it was revealed last month that Valencia and Real Sociedad, two other Spanish teams, were monitoring his circumstances.

Spanish media now indicate that Sociedad is the team most likely to get his final signature.

Additionally, it’s said that the Basque side is investigating the financial aspects of what a Greenwood relocation might entail.

Situated sixth in La Liga and having advanced to the Champions League knockout stages this season, Imanol Alguacil’s team is currently regarded as one of the most appealing teams in Spanish football.

Additionally, it’s said that they could afford the possible amount for Greenwood, who will only have one year remaining on his United contract come summertime.

From United’s perspective, his sale may ultimately turn out to be a reluctant one. However, those in charge at United were obliged to acknowledge that Greenwood would have to be written off as an asset when the player was initially detained in January 2022 and then brought to trial.

Since the player has been with United since he was six years old, any sale of him at this time would be viewed as an unanticipated and somewhat welcome financial boost.
