‘Outstanding’: Danny Murphy says £340,000-a-week Manchester United player was brilliant vs Liverpool

After the goalless draw between Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and Manchester United at Anfield, former Liverpool player Danny Murphy expressed his admiration for Raphael Varane, the central defender for Manchester United.

Despite not being one of the standout matches in the Premier League this season, Manchester United surprised many by securing a draw and maintaining a clean sheet at Anfield.

Varane, who has faced criticism and injury setbacks this season, delivered an impressive performance, catching the attention of Murphy.

Speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel, Murphy expressed his admiration for Varane, stating, “I thought Varane was outstanding.

It begs the question of why he has not played more for Erik ten Hag at Man United.”

Varane’s qualities became apparent while he was a player for Real Madrid, and he is now regarded as one of the best and most reliable defenders in the world. Even though he might not perform at his best level as he did in Madrid, the 30-year-old is still a very useful player.

Varane demonstrated his defensive brilliance against Liverpool by winning aerial duels, stopping assaults, and exhibiting leadership abilities at the centre of United’s defence, despite concerns about his limited playing time under Erik ten Hag.
