Manchester United

Raphael Varane and Casemiro are two Manchester United players Erik ten Hag is eager to keep, but if they choose to leave, he will sell them.

Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, will let the players decide what happens to Raphael Varane and Casemiro after the season, but he would want to keep them both until then.

Raphael Varane has started the last two games after spending seven weeks out of the starting lineup, while Casemiro has missed the last two months of play due to a hamstring strain.

The team’s director of football, John Murtough, visited Saudi Arabia earlier this month in an attempt to pique interest in talents such as Jadon Sancho.

Given their trophy-filled careers and high salaries, Casemiro and Varane are among United’s most important players.

Ten Hag and Varane were rumored to have had a falling out, and Casemiro has looked like a different player this term.

Ten Hag wants to hang onto the two, though, according to ESPN, at least through the end of the season.

The Dutchman will grudgingly let them go and will press for replacements during the January transfer window if the two submit transfer requests.

Financial Fair Play regulations have hampered United, so clearing the books of players like Varane and Casemiro would provide them more breathing room.

The team has stated that they won’t be active during the January transfer window unless there are any outgoings.
