Manchester United

Raphael Varane’s availability was communicated to Bayern prior to the January transfer window.

Florian Plettenberg claims that Bayern Munich has been notified of Manchester United defender Raphael Varane’s availability prior to the January transfer window.

Under manager Erik ten Hag, the Frenchman has recently lost his starting position. Harry Maguire had been the Dutchman’s choice over him for the right center back position.

Due to the rumors that have been circulating about his future, Plettenberg has now disclosed that Bayern has held internal discussions about a possible deal for the World Cup winner.

He might be able to leave United for €20–30 million, but with his high salary right now, a trade is unfeasible. Varane now receives €20 million from United annually.

Varane, who cost €40 million to sign with the Red Devils during the summer transfer window of 2021, is not expected to accept a short-term contract.

Man Utd may want to sign a new center back given Varane’s circumstances.

When healthy last season, Varane was an unquestionable starter under Ten Hag, but Harry Maguire’s recent surge in form has radically altered his circumstances.

At right center-back, Maguire’s distribution abilities have been favored by the manager. He has made it rather evident that Varane is not as good as Victor Lindelof at playing left center back.

Also preferred over the Frenchman is Jonny Evans due to Lisandro Martinez’s injury. We believe that Varane might look for a new challenge at the beginning of the next year.

Bayern should be able to pay the asking price, but they are having difficulty paying the workers.

Varane still has the option to relocate to Saudi Arabia if they decide not to pursue a contract. If the Frenchman choose to play in the Saudi Pro League, his pay would easily quadruple.

The choice of a new center back for United may depend on Varane’s situation. Nice star Jean-Clair Todibo appears to be the front-runner to take his countryman’s place at United.
