Manchester United
Real Madrid and Man United are vying for the “best” player in Europe, and there is discussion about the future of the current star.
A rumor claims that Manchester United is considering a move for Monaco defender Vanderson while considering Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s future.
Although Wan-Bissaka’s contract with Manchester United is nearing its end, the team still has the option to extend it until the end of the following campaign. They have, meanwhile, also been looking at other right-back targets.
Wan-Bissaka’s future at Manchester United is not being decided upon just yet, according to 90min, as they are now evaluating the reasons for some players’ decline in performance following new contract offers.
There have been some questions raised regarding Man Utd’s right-back position because Wan-Bissaka has typically started over Diogo Dalot when healthy this season.
Ten Hag is rumored to want a different alternative at the position, and Man Utd is reportedly considering Vanderson once more in light of the reports linking him during the summer and early fall.
It’s interesting to note that Paul Mitchell, the guy who signed Vanderson for Monaco, may end up playing an off-field role for Manchester United once Sir Jim Ratcliffe buys a share in the team. Nevertheless, their interest in the Brazil international is thought to be independent of this.
According to the source, Vanderson is regarded as “the best young right-back in Europe” and has made an impression for Monaco since joining the team in January 2022 from Gremio.
As a result, Real Madrid is also interested in him. The club’s two starting right backs, Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez, are both older than thirty.
Interestingly, though, given that Monaco has identified midfielder Youssouf Fofana as a possible Casemiro replacement, Manchester United may be open to a double deal with the French club.
Since Fofana and Vanderson are only at their second club in their careers, neither has ever played in the Premier League.
On the global scale, however, their profiles are growing. In September 2022, Fofana made his debut for France, and early this year, Vanderson was awarded his first Brazil cap.
The price of each target for Manchester United or anybody else looking to purchase them is unknown as of this writing.
When asked about rumors surrounding his future back in September, Vanderson responded, “It’s great to hear Barcelona and United ‘love’ you.”
“Knowing that the major league teams are mentioning you is wonderful. But right now, Monaco is my main priority.
He has 68 appearances, four goals, and nine assists in all competitions during his stint in the Principality, where he is contracted until 2027.
In what way is Vanderson different from the Man Utd right-backs of today?
This season, Vanderson has made seven appearances, Wan-Bissaka six, and Dalot ten in their respective leagues.
Vanderson surpasses both of the current Manchester United right-backs in terms of ball recoveries, ground duels won, and shoots and shots on target during the opposing phase of the game when comparing their statistics per ninety minutes.
But he also ranks lowest in terms of touches, completed passes, accurate passes, accurate crossings, successful takeaways, fouls given up, won aerial duels, clearances, and blocks.
When it comes to assists, chances created, tackles made, and interceptions, he falls between Dalot and Wan-Bissaka.
