Rio Ferdinand Drops Verdict Ahead Of Chelsea Brentford Match

Ferdinand thinks Chelsea has turned things around after a difficult start, therefore neither Brentford nor the Blues should anticipate an easy game in the early kickoff

In the early kickoff of the weekend, Chelsea will host Brentford. Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has expressed his opinion about who he thinks will probably come out on top.

Chelsea in the previous week stunned Arsenal despite the Gunners coming from behind to share spoils with the West Londoners. A game which Rio Ferdinand drew so much insight from about where the Pochettino’s Chelsea is headed for.

According to Ferdinand, not playing in any other competition this season is a great blessing to Pochettino who will focus and build his team properly without worrying about outside fixtures.

Indeed it’s clear that the task Pochettino has for this season is finishing in the top 4 of the Premier League table and not even winning it. The current Board understands the importance of patience in such a project and that’s one thing they won’t deny the Argentine Manager as long as there are progress made.

The match today will be the fourth time Brentford are visiting Stamford Bridge since 2013 when they lost 4-0 to the Blues and Ferdinand believes the host will most likely claim all points available.

“Chelsea are looking more like a better team than many teams on the table currently and I must confess to that. Their projects are becoming clearer and Pochettino looks like he definitely knows what he is doing,” Ferdinand said.

“I believe they will beat Brentford but not in an easy way, not the 4-0 style, not the 3-0 style, I believe it will be a 1 goal difference kind of victory cause Brentford are very stubborn team that will always stun you when you least expect, but I believe Chelsea are aware of this and will have their guard up just like they did against Arsenal although they lost control at the last minute.

“I believe they learnt their lessons and would do a better job today against Brentford. Come on, look at it, Brentford are not as deadly as last season but of course they are still Brentford and they still bring surprises to the party but this time it’s against a project that has kicked into a serious phase where everyone in the team is conscious of the plan.”

Chelsea lost their last two meetings against The Bees but will be hoping to turn the tables when they lock horns today.
