Strange Man Utd trade for £85 million is “bullish” since the forward from Brazil isn’t thought to be good enough.
Brazil-based reports claim that Manchester United, one of the biggest teams in the Premier League, is not vying with Flamengo for Gabriel Barbosa’s signature.
could have used the summer transfer window to sign two strikers, but they only managed to sign Rasmus Hojlund. The Red Devils paid almost £64 million to get the former Atalanta attacker.
While Erik ten Hag’s team has had a terrible start to the season, Hojlund has been one of their more promising players despite his subpar finishing.
Given his inexperience, the Red Devils are now asking too much of Hojlund. Ten Hag may try to acquire a new striker if he receives funding in January; Barbosa has recently been linked to them.
The 27-year-old has spent time in the past with Benfica and Inter Milan. He signed a permanent contract with Flamengo in 2020, and in 246 appearances for them in all competitions, he has scored 139 goals.
This season, Barbosa has been in and out of the squad. However, according to the Daily Mirror, Manchester United is interested in signing him and is “willing to offer Antony in part exchange on loan” in order to close the deal.

However, journalist Jorge Nicola claims that these transfer connections are “absolutely weird” (via Sport Witness).
Since then, Venê Casagrande, the reporter’s countryman, has remarked, “This doesn’t make any sense.” This is untrue.
Barbosa’s lack of playing time, according to Casagrande, makes it difficult for Flamengo to trade him to a major European team at this time, despite the fact that he is being connected to both AC Milan and Manchester United.
The forward is reportedly in talks for a new contract, which may mean he commits his future to the club, but the Brazilian team is reportedly requesting €20 million for the player.
Regarding Antony, he has not fared well for Manchester United since joining from Ajax, an £85 million transfer last year. Ten Hag acknowledged the winger “can do better” earlier this month.
“There’s the team as well. To start, they’re not playing well. When they don’t bring him the balls, I’m also accountable.”Ten Hag informed the press
However, there’s a lot of noise, which evidently also caused his levels to plummet. Not just he, but all the players, can perform better.
“Antony is not only a skilled player but also a fighter. He exudes confidence and bravery, and I am sure he will deliver a performance that demonstrates his suitability for our team.”
