Ten Hag explained why Hojlund is having trouble, pointing to a concerning factor as the Man Utd treble winner

Jaap Stam, the treble-winning manager of Manchester United, has taken a strong liking to Rasmus Hojlund; nonetheless, the Dutchman has identified a concerning cause for the striker’s early difficulties at Old Trafford.

Stam played a significant role in Manchester United’s historic treble-winning season of 1998–1999 and won three Premier League titles during his three full seasons there.

The renowned Dutch center back is well-versed in what it takes to be successful with The Red Devils, and it appears he thinks Rasmus Hojlund, the new striker, can shine in Manchester.

However, United’s £72 million (with add-ons) acquisition from Atalanta has had difficulty getting off the ground thus far.

Hojlund has not yet made a Premier League debut. Though United has oddly lost each of the three games in which he has hit the net, he has five goals in the Champions League.

That may be the best way to describe Hojlund’s issue at United: people surrounding him aren’t good enough.

The Manchester Evening News demanded that United sign a Premier League winger who is expected to be selected by Liverpool to take Mohamed Salah’s place. The MEN claims that signing the dynamic wideman would also maximize Hojlund’s potential.

Speaking to the Danish publication Tipsbladet, Stam now gave Hojlund the runaround.

Stam enumerated the many qualities about Hojlund that have impressed him so far. What is more concerning, though, is Stam’s assertion that Hojlund’s teammates aren’t quite up to the level needed to compete in the Premier League.

Stam didn’t mention names, but it seems likely that he was referring to those like Marcus Rashford and Antony, to mention just two, who are in charge of giving Hojlund opportunities.

Some Man Utd players aren’t ready for Premier League play—Stam

Stam remarked, “[Hojlund] has really impressed me.” “He is a really good player, in my opinion.

“He has a lot of talent.” In his early United appearances, he demonstrated his exceptional left leg, strong physique, and quickness.

“The problem with him is that, as a young man, he finds it difficult to showcase his abilities in such a large club. For he depends on the players surrounding him as well.

“They must perform for him and provide him with scoring opportunities.

“He is a member of an insecure squad. There are players surrounding him who lack the self-assurance and possibly the skills necessary to compete at this level.

Therefore, he won’t have an easy time of it, but he must do what he can.

“He needs to work hard and display his qualities. Hopefully, once he scores a few goals, he gains even more self-assurance.
