The Argentina manager explains why he did not choose the Manchester United prospect. Rafael Garnacho
Alejandro Garnacho’s poor performance for Manchester United is the primary cause of his exclusion from the most recent round of international matches, according to Argentina’s coach Lionel Scaloni.
The teenager has only made one cameo appearance off the bench in a 3-0 victory over Bolivia despite having been called up during the previous two international breaks in September and October.
In his ten Premier League games and four Champions League appearances this season, he has not registered a goal or an assist. He has also been out of form with United.
His only goal came in the Carabao Cup triumph over Crystal Palace in September, although he did get a Scott McTominay assist called back earlier this month against Fulham due to a very close “subjective offside” ruling on Harry Maguire.
Garnacho is thought to have a bright future for both club and nation despite his current difficulties, and Scaloni says he felt it was right to give the 19-year-old a break, especially as it seemed unlikely that he would play again.
Ahead of two crucial matches against Brazil and Uruguay, Scaloni stated: “Why is Garnacho not being called up? Ale was not chosen because of a form error.
Also, he didn’t have many minutes during the previous call-ups.
Garnacho has recently struggled with form and confidence.
“It’s wonderful that everyone wants to be here, but we also need to consider the human element with the players.”
Captain Lionel Messi is one player who will participate for Argentina; Scaloni is certain that the 36-year-old is in terrific form despite not playing much for Inter Miami.
How’s Messi doing? The Argentina manager declared, “He is in good shape.”
He comes with us in good shape because he was training, even though he hasn’t played many games in the past month. He is decent.
Garnacho, on the other hand, will work out with United’s several players who were not chosen to represent their nations during the international break for the next two weeks.
While Diogo Dalot left the Portugal team because his partner is expecting a child, Raphael Varane has retired from international football, while Mason Mount, Antony, Anthony Martial, Hannibal Mejbri, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka were not included in the squad.
The following game for United is an away trip to Galatasaray, a visit to St. James’ Park, and home games against Chelsea and Bayern Munich. The team’s next game is away at Goodison Park against Everton.
