Manchester United

The harsh forecast made by a Sky Sports analyst for Liverpool vs. Manchester United at Anfield says it all.

In advance of Sunday’s Premier League match between Manchester United and bitter rivals Liverpool at Anfield, Sky Sports analyst Paul Merson has offered his crystal-clear prediction.

This weekend presents a big test for United, who lost to Bayern Munich 1-0 and were eliminated from the Champions League.

There could be 13 players missing for the trip to Anfield due to suspensions for captain Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire’s injury sustained against Bayern in the first half. Manager Erik ten Hag is juggling these issues.

Liverpool is leading the Premier League table, while United is now six points outside of the top four in the league.

In his Sportskeeda blog, Merson predicts a 3-0 victory for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, citing a commanding performance from the Reds.

Alexis Mac Allister’s injury worries notwithstanding, Merson thinks Liverpool will “rip them to shreds.”

“My prediction is a 3-0 victory at home, as I think Liverpool will absolutely destroy them,” Merson wrote.

While there are a few midfield possibilities available to Jurgen Klopp, Alexis Mac Allister is a serious injury doubt.

Harvey Elliott’s cameos have been impressive in Wataru Endo’s recent games, but I believe Curtis Jones understands the significance of this match, thus I anticipate him starting at Anfield.

Merson says he is confident about his pick for Liverpool vs.

united and highlights the difficulty Ten Hag faces. Ten Hag arrives at Anfield following the Champions League setback, frustrated with United’s lack of consistency and his past struggles there.

Merson notes that Liverpool are the league leaders and that they must win during the Christmas period, but he doesn’t think much of United and speculates that Ten Hag may be “throwing players onto the pitch” because of their disappointing season.
