Three ways Manchester United could line up vs Wolves amid Rasmus Hojlund injury concern

Three ways Manchester United could line up vs Wolves amid Rasmus Hojlund injury concern

New recruit Rasmus Hojlund is poised to miss the start of the season

Manchester United will be hoping to make a flying start to the 2023/24 Premier League campaign when they face Wolves at Old Trafford on Monday.

United, who did the double over the Black Country outfit last season, will be determined to hit the ground running and build on last season’s successful first chapter under Erik ten Hag. The Reds lost each of their first two matches last term, meaning they will be desperate to avoid any repeats of such a poor start this time around.

After securing a third-placed finish and scooping the Carabao Cup last term, United have ambitions of kicking on this season, and have added three new faces to their ranks so far this summer to try and boost their hopes of doing so. They have signed Andre Onana from Inter Milan, England midfielder Mason Mount and Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund.

The aforementioned trio are all expected to become regular fixtures in Ten Hag’s first-choice starting XI. However, Hojlund is a doubt for the season opener against Wolves after suffering what sources described as a “small injury” during pre-season training at Atalanta.

United believe it could take a few weeks for the forward to reach match fitness and they have no plans to rush his recovery, meaning his wait for a debut is likely to be extended. With that in mind, Ten Hag must decide who he believes will be the best fit to lead United’s attack in their season opener.

Below, MEN Sport has taken a look at three different ways the Dutchman could unleash United, specially their front-three, in their curtain-raiser next week.
