“Undeterred,” Man Utd “set sights” on a Premier League talent worth £115 million as a historic “deal nears.”

According to rumors, Manchester United is hoping to sign Brighton striker Evan Ferguson “in the near future.”

Erik ten Hag’s first season at Manchester United was highly encouraging. The Dutchman won the League Cup, advanced the team to the FA Cup final, and finished in the top four of the Premier League.

Although the England international scored 30 goals in all competitions, the Red Devils can partially credit Marcus Rashford for that. However, this season, the Red Devils are having more difficulty scoring goals.

Rasmus Hojlund, who joined from Atalanta for £72 million in the summer transfer window, relieved some of Rashford’s goal-scoring load, and Ten Hag made it his primary priority to sign a center forward.

With just 13 goals in 12 games this season, sixth-place Manchester United are the least prolific goal scorers in the top half of the Premier League.

While Rashford, the top striker from the previous season, has only scored one goal so far this season, Hojlund, who scored five goals in four Champions League games, has yet to score in the Premier League.

Man utd are seeking to bolster their offensive line as quickly as possible; according to Football Insider, the Red Devils are “setting their sights” on Ferguson, a striker for Brighton.

Although the Republic of Ireland player has just signed a contract extension at the Amex Stadium through 2029, Manchester United “are undeterred and continue to monitor his progress ahead of a possible swoop in the near future.”

Man Utd is still hopeful that Hojlund will help “fill their striking vacancy for the years to come” despite the fact that they will have to contend with “many top Premier League and European clubs considering moves.”

The Sun recently reported that “it would take more than the £115 million Chelsea paid Brighton for Moises Caicedo in the summer to sign” the young Irishman, suggesting that the Red Devils may need to spend up to £115 million to acquire Ferguson.

It appears that Man Utd will soon have more cash to spend, as Sky News says that Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s investment in the team is getting closer to a “deal.”

Another player that Man Utd are apparently interested in is Joao Neves, a midfielder for Benfica. Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has provided the most recent information on Neves’ status.

“Benfica are always producing talents and Joao Neves is another one – born in 2004, the midfielder is doing fantastic for them right now, particularly against Sporting Lisbon in their last game,” Romano wrote in his Caught Offside column. He’s already a key member of their team and a gifted player; in recent months, he’s been connected to elite teams.

“I can only state that Manchester United dispatched scouts to observe Neves during the match against Sporting. This could be one to watch in the future as they want to monitor his growth and development. I can reveal that Man United is among the several clubs who are keeping a watch on him.

“Several circumstances, including ownership, management, and directors—all of whom are expected to change in the coming weeks due to the arrival of Sir Jim Ratcliffe—will determine what happens next. United is probably going to undergo a lot of changes, but the scouting division is closely monitoring Neves.

“Remaining at Manchester United, several of my supporters have questioned me about rumors that they are interested in signing a right-back and a winger in January, but I don’t have any of that information. As I previously mentioned, I’ve been informed that a center-back is their top goal for 2024, and with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot, I think they have plenty of options at right-back.
