Manchester United
Unrecognizable now is a former Manchester United player who failed under Sir Alex Ferguson.
This former Manchester United player is no longer recognizable at all.
Football players constantly monitor their diet, fitness, and looks throughout their careers because brand deals and performance are frequently dependent on these factors.
And while some retirees remain mindful of these issues, others choose to live a more pleasurable and stress-free existence away from the demands of elite athletics.
As they reap the rewards of their labor, the latter might cause some of the most recognizable celebrities to fade into obscurity in the eyes of their previous admirers.
However, not many football players appear to have changed as much from their playing days as one former United star.
Massimo Taibi actually appears very different after a disastrous stint at Old Trafford during his 22-year playing career.
The 53-year-old’s 6’3″ body has considerably expanded, and his once-floppy brown locks have been chopped short and grey.
Taibi has changed significantly in appearance.
In August 1999, Taibi moved from Venezia to United, but instead of being an ideal transfer, it was an all-too-brief nightmare that included a mistake that would come to define him.
The team needed a new goalkeeper after Peter Schmeichel left and Mark Bosnich got hurt, and Martin, the brother of Sir Alex Ferguson, suggested Taibi.
The 29-year-old was reportedly signed for a meager £4.5 million and was thrust into the starting lineup almost right away.
On September 11, 1999, he made his debut at Anfield, where United defeated Liverpool 3-2. He then went on to have his second straight man-of-the-match performance in a 1-1 draw with Wimbledon.
But Matt Le Tissier’s poor potshot from 25 yards managed to get under Taibi’s knees and cross the line in a 3-3 draw with Southampton.
It was the start of the end for Taibi, and the birth of the legend known as the “Blind Venetian,” as one newspaper dubbed him.
The keeper only appeared in one more United match, on October 3, when Chelsea crushed the team 5-0.
That defeat, the team’s first in the league for ten months, marked the terrible conclusion of his Premier League career, as he had only been at United for 33 days.
