Victor Lindelof of Manchester United says his future transfer ambitions are “absolutely top of the list.”

Man United defender Victor Lindelof is nearing the end of his Old Trafford deal.

When Vasteras SK was recently promoted to the Swedish top division, Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof expressed interest in returning to his old team.

Lindelof left Benfica to join United in 2017, and he has played 246 games for the Reds. Due to a mounting injury list, the 29-year-old has earned increased playing time recently despite struggling to hold down a spot in the starting lineup in previous seasons. In Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Luton Town, the Swede began and scored.

The center back started his career at Vasteras, making his debut in the first squad in 2011. A year later, he signed with Benfica’s B club. Vasteras has alternated between the Swedish football leagues’ second and third divisions, but this year they managed to get back into the Allsvenskan, where they will take on teams like Malmo and Elfsborg.

Lindelof said, “I hope they are ready to take the step,” in response to a question from Fotbollskanalen about if he would want to play for his hometown team once more in the future. I believe that Vasteras as a city needs a team in the top division. It had come to pass.

“In order for the individuals on the board and nearby to make a name for themselves in the Allsvenskan, I hope they have a grasp on the problem. It’s obvious that it would have been enjoyable to return home and play in the Allsvenskan for a year, even though I have never participated in the competition.

I don’t want to return home partially injured and unable to function at my best, so we’ll see how the body feels in a few years. It would be so much pleasure to be able to play with VSK when I got home. I’m from there. It is undoubtedly at the top of the list in the unlikely event that I return home.”

United intends to exercise their one-year contract extension option with Lindelof. That would imply that he had a 2025 deal with the team.
